LA mayor proposes $24M pilot basic income program in budget

LA Mayor Eric Garcetti proposed city’s budget that takes effect on July 1 includes a $24M allocation for a Guaranteed Basic Income pilot program. The program aims to provide 2,000 low-income families with $1,000 a month for the year. The experimental pilot program will be part of Garcetti’s ’Equity and Justice Budget.’ Garcetti called the budget arguably ’the most progressive in the country.’
