Nevada inmate fighting execution seeks firing-squad option

A Nevada inmate fighting a possible June execution is calling for the state to consider the firing squad as an option. Zane Floyd, convicted in 2000 of killing four people with a shotgun in a Las Vegas supermarket in 1999 and badly wounding a fifth person, is challenging the state plan to use a proposed three-drug lethal injection. Floyd is also hoping to seek clemency at a June 22 meeting.

I mean, either way sucks, but he wants to go out facing his destroyers. I can respect it.

Wouldn't firing squad be cheaper in the long run? As opposed to lethal injection which I would imagine needing a specialist to make the poison... I'm legitimately curious, if you choose to respond please be civil I'm wanting to understand.

If his victims didn’t have a choice as to how they lived the last moments of their lives I don’t believe he deserves a choice. He is asking to go out in glory, with bullets blazing, and he didn’t do anything to deserve what he wants. He is a murderer and he needs to be shown the error of his ways if that’s at all possible. He needs to be shown how minute he really is compared to the world because he’s not special, and he needs rehabilitation with a side of therapy.

I think his victims would be fine with that but only if they use a shotgun.

I’d rather take the injection. They just knock you out with opioids and pump you with poison. You’re so messed up off the drugs that you don’t feel your death for even a second unless they really messed up

That's fine with me

Well, might as well give him options.

Use his shotgun and get it done!

Lethal injections are not administered by medical professionals, so a lot can go wrong. Firing squad is quicker and more reliable. But excecutions are entirely inhumane and shouldn't happen. They are more expensive than life terms.

Fair enough. Shoot him and be done with it.
