Assad warns Syria’s Kurds that US will not protect them

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad warned the Kurds on Sunday that their ally the US would not protect them against any Turkish offensive. Assad said the US would put the group ’in their pocket’ to be used as a ’bargaining chip’. The Kurdish YPG militia have been the main US partner in the battle against Islamic State.

He knows Washington well. Not the first time they've sold out the Kurds, and probably not the last. Damascus is offering them an open hand against Turkish backed terrorists. They'd be wise to cooperate against the terrorists.
