West Virginia teachers strike again, this time over charter schools

A union for West Virginia teachers vowed on Tuesday to continue their strike to oppose charter schools. A bill that would have opened the first charter schools in West Virginia failed to win approval in the state House of Delegates on Tuesday. The bill passed the Republican-controlled Senate on Monday, prompting labor unions to call a strike that closed most of the state’s 700 schools.

The reason schools are failing is because of common core and teacher's union. Get rid of common core and the teacher's union allow each school to have their own cirriculum and base teachers pay on the average test scores of their students that'll give them insentive to do a better job at teaching.

Charter schools are a fantastic idea. The teachers union just want a monopoly on schools.

why mess with something that has worked great for the people. oh yeah let's make a profit of students. now that sounds like something that happens in third world countries. the only reason public schools are struggling is because politicians are being by lobbist to under fund and push for charters. wakeup.

It seems like they are just bitching about people having options and there being competition to public schools...am I missing something?
