White House officially supports making D.C. 51st state of the union

The White House has formally backed making Washington, D.C., the 51st state of the union. It has also urged Congress to pass the H.R. 51 legislation. D.C. statehood legislation has received ’strong support’ from President Joe Biden, the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) said. The legislation would give the district two new senators and one member of Congress.

Been telling everyone this was the plan the moment they rigged the election, people fell back on “we’ll win the house back” as if they were suddenly gonna play by the rules again. They want power, now they know they can have it with no restraint. They’re pushing lowering the voting age, DC statehood, universal mail in voting (literally ending in person voting) etc. In all likelihood it’s gonna take a lot to stop their power grab. States need to secede or there will be war

DC has been a non state for good reasons. This would be a huge mistake that will be impossible to revert.

They’re really not trying to conceal the power grabs. Packing the courts Lowering the voting age Fighting against Voter ID Fighting the Electoral College, Encouraging mail in voting... They’re doing everything to maximize the power of the Democratic Party by bending and breaking out elections.

I’m generally opposed to this, we should make Capitol Hill like the Vatican, with no permanent population, and outside the jurisdiction of any state, along with the White House and the Supreme Court, and give the territory back to Maryland and Virginia, or leave it as it is. I could see myself supporting statehood for Puerto Rico though, if that’s what they want.

We surely live in a banana republic now. I vote for Georgetown as the 52nd. Why stop at 51 and state status for 300k population city?

Nope. Totally unconstitutuonal. I would be in favor of Puerto Rico but only if northern California is granted statehood first. Divide up Commie-Cali and we can talk.

I'm no Trump fan, but this and court packing were huge reasons I voted Republican. The defund the police movement was my main reason. I honestly tried to support Joe, but he's a mess. Completely caved into the radical left. The border disaster breaks my effing heart.

It would make more sense to just make the residential areas of DC part of an existing state, like Virginia or Maryland, if the goal is merely to grant DC residents voting rights over congressional seats.

The only fair alternative is not giving them statehood but abolishing taxes and jury duty. It’s one or the other

Just let Virginia reclaim the land they donated to for DC to exist. It is that simple. I think Maryland already did this years ago and if not they to should reclaim their land.

This is a sad attempt at getting more power. They know that Washington D.C would give them two Senate Seats and One House Seat everytime.
