US court rejects ex-congressman’s appeal in spending scandal

The US Supreme Court on Tuesday rejected a bid by Republican former congressman Aaron Schock to escape charges accusing him of defrauding the government while a member of the House of Representatives. Schock is scheduled to go on trial in June on charges including theft of government funds. His expenditures came under scrutiny following lavish decorations at his office.
