Number of hate groups in US hits all-time high

A new report has pointed out to the growing number of hate groups operating in the US, highlighting that the number rose 7 per cent to an all-time high last year. The SPLC, which has tracked hate groups since 1971, found there were 1,020 operating in the US in 2018. 2018 was the fourth consecutive year of growth. The group blamed Trump and his administration for ’fear mongering’ fuelling the rise.

I don't think I'm going to trust an organization that thrives on the existence of "hate groups" when it comes to how many there are. Especially with the number of hoax incidents and fake news stories regarding racial hatred. The SPLC is a complete joke.

I think it's because the definition of 'Hate Group' has changed and not because of an actual increase

The Reason Foundation is listed as a hate group. They're a libertarian outfit that calls for small government and almost no regulation of personal freedom. Monsters amirite?

Funny that they would put this out and it would get so much traction on the left considering yet another person is going to jail for faking a hate crime against themselves.

The only growing hate group in America is the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Imagine how much higher that number would jump if they decided to include leftist hate groups like Antifa, Black Panthers, MECHA, and the idiot brigades in Portland.

Where are all the lynchings, please? If hate is the problem, why are they not murdering people without any repercussions? Fakenews.

its according to SPLC, the same organization that labeled a practicing muslim criticizing its extreme versions an Islamophobe and Tim Pool an Alt-right leader.

Well it’s an easy claim to make when you call any and all people you disagree with for any reason a hate group. I think a more accurate headline would be “people accused of being hate groups by professional victims has increased”.

I like that their smart enough to not admit that it’s the splc but not smart enough to just not cite the splc

from the usa today article "The annual tally is controversial. It gives the same hate label to some conservative church or political groups such as Catholic Family Ministries (listed as a "general hate group") or Conservative Republicans of Texas (branded anti-gay) as it does to outfits such as the Ku Klux Klan or American Nazi Party. The SPLC said it has been sued by three groups that say they shouldn't be considered hate groups."

With splc judging who is a hate group and who isn't, this news isn't surprising at all

The SPLC has lost ALL credibility as far as I am concerned. But when you consider the Proud Boys a white supremacist hate group I guess the numbers would be up.

at this point I wouldn't be surprised if the us army is considered a hate group for killing 'muslims' and people who support sharia law.
