Former President Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle Obama, said the guilty verdict for Derek Chauvin, who was tried for the second- and third-degree murder of George Floyd, was a ’necessary step,’ but was ’far from a sufficient one.’ In a statement, they said ’true justice requires that we come to terms with the fact that Black Americans are treated differently, every day.’
