Cardinal calls for global recognition of sex abuse in Catholic Church

A leading cardinal acknowledged the global scale of the child sex abuse scandal in the Roman Catholic Church on Friday. Indian Cardinal Oswald Gracias, speaking at the summit, said the refusal by some bishops to admit clerical pedophilia was an issue in their countries was unacceptable. The four day summit winds up Sunday with a speech by Pope Francis.

Disgusting organisation. It should be dismantled immediately. They've gotten away with this for long enough.

Here is my opinion on this subject I do think the abuse in the Catholic Church has gone far enough. The other hand though the people who come out should be question. The reason I say this because of things like the #metoo movement is causing problems. Who is to say the people who claim to be abuse by the church aren't lying? I will say this if we want to stop this let the priest get married first then let them become priest or bishop.

All of that was nothing more than a p.r. stunt. The media is saying these crimes possibly go back decades. What a joke!! If this stuff was going on in a few catholic churches in one area I could possibly see that being the case. But over the years we've been seeing this all over the world. I'd say this stuff have been going on for centuries. Possibly since the very beginning. I'd even go so far to say that it probably played a part in the Protestants breaking away from the Catholic church. The Protestants did away with the rule that a priest, bishop or preacher whatever you want to call them had to be celibate. That's probably why you don't hear about 1000s of young boys being sexually violated in the Protestant church. Not to say there haven't been a some scandals over the years. There have been. But nothing compared to the Catholic Church. I guarantee that if they did away with that oath of celibacy or however they do it, you would see the kiddie diddling begin diminishing.
