Facebook shuts down Onavo VPN app following privacy scandal

A report by a Commons committee, UK, has detailed Facebook’s use of an application to ’spy’ on users. The group said that Facebook used its Onavo VPN app to gather information on competitors. Facebook announced it has now removed Onavo from Google Play as well. Facebook had acquired Israel-based Onavo back in October 2013 for a reported $150-$200 million.
