90-year-old woman conned out of $32M in phone scam

A 90-year old woman in Hong Kong has been scammed out of nearly $32m by fraudsters pretending to be Chinese officials. The woman was told her identity had been stolen and used on the mainland, by the fraudsters who claimed to be investigating a criminal case in China. She was then coerced into making 11 deposits between Aug. and Jan. to help the alleged investigation.

I often found it funny how trusting people can be, and how uncritical they can be. However, in this case I really sympathize with the lade. If a oppressive regime known for torture, slavery and genocide said you must do something, are you going to say no? Is it a risk you are willing to take? When they rape and torture innocent protesters and other people in HK for not being pro CCP enough?
