Democrats block bill regarding failed abortions

Democrats blocked Senate Bill S. 311. The claimed goal of the bill is to hold abortion clinic staff members legally accountable in the case of an abortion failing and resulting in the child coming out of the womb alive. The vote was 53 for, 44 against, and required a 60 per cent majority to pass. Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Neb) was the chief sponsor for the bill.

This is tribalism at its most insidious. murdering fully birthed babies is wrong... why is that a thing that needs to be debated?

ProbablyFailing 1 year

Well, they were willing to murder the baby before it crossed the vaginal border, why would they stop afterward?

Trump: I want to stop the slaying of babies that can feel pain Democrats: Booooooo! What the hell is wrong with the democrats? Seems their true colors are finally showing.

My body, my right. Except when it's the baby's body, that's my right too. So, when then, legally, is a baby a person now? After birth? 1 hour after birth? 24 hours after birth? 18 years after birth? Since we're clearly not going off of common sense here, I feel it's an important question to ask.

whoever drafted that bill should be aborted... post birth of course

This is such a losing position for the radical left. Pure evil, nothing else would ever kill the unborn. This will guarantee 2020 for Trump.

Abortion should never even be considered unless the mother's life is in danger.

The bill is literally called: S.130 - Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act Maybe the bill would have done better if they had just called this what it really is, Born-Alive Anti-Infanticide Protection. The fact that 44 people thought killing a born child is okay, is ver, very worrisome especially in our federal government.

And this is where my political line is always drawn clearly. It's because of shit like this I have never, and will never, vote for a democrat, period. I can't in good conscience associate myself with the abortion party.

Do you know what the difference between the massacre in Dinant in Belgium by the German Empire during the "Rape of Belgium" in World War 1 and a modern day abortion is? In Dinant the child had the opportunity to live for 3 weeks before their life was taken from them.

So what exactly is the limit on the age you can pay a doctor to murder your child for you?

Ok let me explain to you guys if you dont understand why this bill was blocked. There is already a law passed on 2002 called "The Born Alive Infants Protection Act" this was a bipartisan (both Democrats and Republicans agreed) bill pass. That bill already protects infants born after survival of an attempted abortion. This new bill that Republicans are trying to pass is called "The Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act". The difference is that this bill actually punishes the doctors under vague conditions that if the child doesn't survive under the vague conditions the doctor could be sued and sent to jail for up to 5 years. the reason the bill is blocked is because we already have a bill from 2002 that protects infants that survived abortion attempts. This bill just adds vague terms of conditions that could result in punishment to decentivize doctors from doing any abortion procedures.

A key piece to this discussion is whether or not it is ethical to provide treatment to an infant that has very little chance of surviving regardless of medical intervention. Forcing doctors to put newborn children through painful treatment that will only prolong the inevitable is wrong. Doctor discretion and parental choice matters and sadly comfort care is the best option for a terminal child. Politicians are just continuing to posture and distort the conversation with extreme misleading comments.
