Scientists stunned by discovery of ’semi-identical’ twins

A study said Thursday that a pair of Australian twins, born in 2014, are among the rarest humans ever documented. The siblings from Brisbane, a boy and girl, are just the second reported case of sesquizygotic (semi-identical) twins in the world, and the first to be identified while still in the womb. It’s believed that the twins were formed when one egg was fertilized simultaneously by two sperm.
