An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 7.1 has struck southern Peru. The quake’s epicenter was 16 miles north-northeast of Azangaro and it had a depth of around 160 miles. Details around any probable damage resulting from the quake is awaited.

perhaps I'm just heading about them more now than in the past, but there seems to be more large earthquakes happening in recent years.
