Google gives raises after finding out it was underpaying men

Google has reportedly given pay raises to thousands of staffers after finding that it was underpaying some men when compared to women. The company said Monday that an internal audit uncovered several new pay discrepancies, including some male engineers earning less than their female counterparts. The company is distributing $9.7 million in pay adjustments to 10,677 employees to rectify the same.

Not sure why they would be surprised that more men were being under payed, the BBC came to the same conclusion last year. No actually I think I am sure why, ideological possession.

I’m sure this is the case in many companies and many sectors. Vice versa too. Pay on merit not gender.

I'm just glad they had a strong enough spine to announce this publically because you KNOW feminist are going "REEEEEEE" on their phones to their leadership right now. Especially the ugly, bitter ones.

Before anyone says it, no, it's not a "reverse pay gap". It's a pay gap that favors women. Qualifying it as reverse would imply that men earning more than women is the standard and that highly depends on the job in question.

When my wife was quite high up at one of the largest banks in the country, she said white women would earn the same as black men about 30% more than white men and black women about 50% more. Excluding the 14th and 15th cheque bonuses they would get over their white male counterparts.

Oh Wired! Still trapped in your Bay Area bubble. Even the company in question admitted they overpaid numerous men compared to women.

Are the men doing as good a job as the women? If not, they shouldn't get a raise.
