Kroger shares plummet on weak Q4 sales, profits

Shares for supermarket chain Kroger fell sharply Thursday after it reported weaker-than-expected fourth quarter earnings and disappointing guidance for 2019. The company reported a 10 per cent fall in fourth-quarter revenue and lower-than-expected earnings for the first time since October 2017. Profits are expected to come under pressure as the retailer plans annual spending of up to $3.2 billion.
