Consumer Reports warn Tesla can be driven without anyone behind the wheel

According to a new demonstration by the Consumer Reports the Autopilot system of Tesla can be fooled ’easily’ in order to drive the vehicles of the automobile without anyone being behind the wheel. The study was conducted on a test track following a crash of the Tesla Model S in Texas which was widely publicized. The accident resulted in two people being killed in a wreck.

So they had to start the autopilot and reduce the speed to zero, attach a weight to the steering wheel to mimic a hand, shimmy from the driver seat to the passenger seat with the seat belt still engaged, and then at that moment the machine has been tricked into thinking there is a driver and will accelerate with no one "behind the wheel." How can anyone possibly hold Tesla responsible for such egregious misuse of a motor vehicle?

People are smart (or dumb) enough to defeat engineering safeguards. In other news, water is still wet.

All off this discussion is just an attempt at embarrassing Musk. They don't like him because he does not go along with all the woke crap. The car did not have a full automatic package installed and the car was in manual control at the time of the accident. It was driver error like nearly every other accident.

More than 90 people die in car accidents everyday. 3 million people in the U.S. are injured every year in car accidents. It would be a lot fewer than that if everybody drove a Tesla

Not really the fault of the car when the driver have to proactively remove the safeguards and now news networks are showing people how to do it, seems even more absurd

So don't be lazy or inebriated when operating a heavy vehicle that can go excess speeds. Even if there is a loophole it's user error for trying to cut corners.

In other news, with some duct tape and wire I can fool the safeties on my chainsaw into "thinking" that it's being held properly by human hands. Oh the horror that chainsaw could inflict if I did that and tossed it into a chicken coop. #Ban all chainsaws.

I can trick my washer into thinking the lid is closed. It's fun to watch machines do the things the designers meant to prevent us from seeing.

The sensor for my passenger side airbag is smarter than the one for the Tesla autopilot.

Don't get your "Tesla shorts" in a bunch, pun intended - people have right to be idiohts even if they can afford to buy a Tesla. You cannot save a person whose brain refuses to function. SBT = Suicide By Tesla
