Supreme Court removes protections against jailing minors for life

The US Supreme Court has ruled that judges don’t need to find murderers under 18 are ’permanently incorrigible’ before sentencing them to life in prison without parole. In their ruling on the Jones vs Mississippi case, all 6 conservative judges voted for it and all 3 liberal judges voted against. Punishing juveniles with life imprisonment without parole is banned in half of the states in America.

If this is such a prevalent issue then congress should pass legislation addressing it. Legislating from the bench is always a bad idea. From the article it appears as if the Supreme Court came to the conclusion based on current law not based on the hypothesis that these children could change. That is what what a freaking judge should be doing, interpreting laws.
