UK reviews urges new rules to deal with power of tech giants

A UK government review outlined the need to overhaul its competition rules to tackle the dominance of tech giants. The review suggests the setting up of a new competition unit with expertise in the sector, besides encouraging innovation by giving people control over their own data. It recommended smaller companies have access to the data that social media platforms hold on their users.

UK government going to repeal their ridiculous speech crimes? Until that they are scum that US tech giants should refuse to kowtow to.

"Smaller companies should also have access to the data that social media platforms hold on their users, it recommended." How about no. How about big tech should be audited and forcibly stripped of much of the data they amassed with most consumers being at least initially unaware of just how much was mined. It is users' information. We the people need more power over what is fundamentally ours.

I wouldn't trust the UK to make any decision regarding this considering how ridiculous they have become in their policing of free expression

The solution is always more control and never enforcing existing rules

Neither 'Price's law', nor the 'Pareto Principle', can be legislated away, a few players always dominate a mostly free and competitive game.

Hopefully the reach of this government agency does not extend beyond it's borders into the international market, unfortunately when it comes to regulating the exchange of information I trust the UK government about as much as I would trust the CCP.
