USC, Yale University among colleges sued by students over admissions scandal

Two college students have filed a lawsuit against the University of Southern California, Yale University and other colleges where prosecutors have accused some parents of paying bribes to ensure their kid’s admission. The lawsuit alleges the students were denied a fair opportunity for admission. The colleges have cast themselves as victims, and moved to distance themselves from those involved.

Can people sue colleges that use affirmative action? And what’s the difference between bribing your way in or having the government bribe your way in? Both end with someone else missing out unfairly.
