Children born to survivors of Chernobyl show no additional DNA damage

Recent studies of children conceived between 1987 and 2002 show there is no ’additional DNA damage’ in children born to parents who were exposed to radiation from the Chernobyl explosion before they were conceived. This is according to the first study to screen the genes of children whose parents were enlisted to help in the clean-up after the nuclear accident.

Well, that is interesting, I thought that mutations that are neutral and beneficial were carried over to the next generation to eventually create bigger changes in organisms. If this isn't the case, and DNA prevents the transfer of mutations, then DNA is a lot smarter than anything we humans have created yet. Pretty cool how things like this happen.
