State of emergency called across Midwest after record flooding

The American Midwest has suffered record flooding due to ice pack melt and rain over the past week. Thousands of people have had to abandon their homes as waters are expected to rise over the next couple of days. Meteorologists describe this extreme weather event as a ’Bomb Cyclone’. Rescue efforts continue to be hampered by flooded motorways and collapsed bridges.
