WhatsApp co-founder renews call for users to delete Facebook

WhatsApp’s co-founder Brian Acton urged Stanford University students to delete their Facebook accounts, as he explained his reasons for selling the app. Acton was quoted saying, ’We give them the power. That’s the bad part. We buy their products. We sign up for these websites. Delete Facebook, right?’. He went on to say that he sold his users’ privacy when Facebook acquired WhatsApp in 2014.

You should probably factory reset as well if you have ever had it. Privacy for profit smh, greedy little fuckers.

It's too bad for whatsapp. It is my favorite messenging tool. I'm trying to convince everyone to move to signal but it's not going well.

If you’ve ever had social media accounts. Aka Facebook etc. then deleting it now won’t do much good, they’ve already got you. Just because you delete it doesn’t mean everything before you deleted it is removed. It’s all still there for them, they will always have your info now. Until we do something to make actual legal changes in what they’re able to gather from us, deleting social media accounts you currently have is pointless because the damages already done and won’t fix your problem. It’s not even a bandaid, they have you. We have to come together and actually push for real legal change, until then all of this is just hot air.
