New Zealand women don headscarves in solidarity with Muslims

Women across New Zealand are wearing headscarves in a show of support for the Muslim community. This came after a doctor in Auckland, Thaya Ashman, encouraged people to wear a headscarf after hearing about a woman who was scared to go out in the aftermath of last week’s attack as she felt her headscarf would make her a target for terrorism.

There has to be a better way to show solidarity than a sign of oppression that is abhorred by many women forced to wear it.
