FEMA wrongly released personal data of 2.3 million disaster victims

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) acknowledged it exposed 2.3 million disaster survivors to possible identity theft and fraud by sharing personal information with an outside company. FEMA shared financial records and other sensitive information of people who participated in an emergency shelter program in 2017. FEMA said it found no evidence the data had been compromised.
