Trump administration backs total overturn of Obamacare

The Trump administration on Monday called for abolishing the whole Affordable Care Act. The administration earlier insisted that only certain parts of the law should be invalidated, including protections for people with pre-existing conditions. However, the latest filing embraces the total overturn of the law.

the lack of self awareness in our country is insane. you get insurance for unforeseen circumstances. a typical short term curable disease should not wipe out your life savings. we have people with absolutley no compassion until it happens to them.

I'm for going back to before Obama Care. Hell I never left it. But, when you change insurance and have an existing condition, you should not be penalized.

I think the first thing we need to realize is that oftentimes the "health care" we're talking about is insurance. Of course people with pre-existing conditions should have to pay more for insurance if they had a chance to buy insurance before they knew about the condition. Maybe we should also limit what insurance actually covers. I shouldn't need health insurance for a check-up just like I don't ask my homeowner's insurance to pay for my lawn to be mowed. I know I'm going to do those things anyway so it's not insurance.

Obamacare was never about fixing the healthcare system. One of the architects admitted that pretty openly. Legalize catastrophe insurance again (its original purpose) and limit payouts with tort reform and you've solved the "crisis".

As it is. It's a tax, and there are specific steps that need to be followed to implement a new tax. They should have had to start over again the proper way.

Repeal, Don't replace. The system needs to be torn down and rewritten, medical companies have bad debt expenses near 50% because of the ridiculous nature of the system.

Trump proclaims the Republican Party will be the party of Healthcare. And yet they have no plans for Healthcare, except to kick millions off of Obama Care. If you believe a politician when they tell you they have a plan but won't or can't show you what it is in detail than you really too naive to walk around on your own.

Literally every developed nation on the planet has one or another version of single payer, besides the US. The US healthcare system is the laughing stock of the entire industrialized world. You know what would have happened to Walter White from breaking bad if he lived in a single payer country? "It appears you have cancer, you start treatment next week." The end.

I don't claim to understand healthcare intimately. I have 8 years in the insurance industry, but on the property and casualty side. All I know is my deductible has quadrupled since the ACA went into effect.

They aren't really backing the abolition of the ACA. He is just choosing to not defend it. Just like when Obama chose not to defend DOMA from a court challenge.
