European parliament approves controversial copyright law

The EU voted to pass the controversial Copyright Directive aimed at bring sweeping reforms to how copyrighted content posted online is governed. The parliament passed the legislation by 348 votes to 274. The new rules include holding tech companies responsible for material posted without proper copyright permission. Member states have two years to implement the law if they approve the decision.
