EU takes another step toward ending seasonal time changes

The European Parliament has backed a proposal to stop the one-hour clock change which extends daylight hours in summer across the EU. The proposal gives each member state a choice, to either keep the current summer time system or scrap the twice-yearly clock changes, from 2021. Under the current directive, all states switch to summer time in March and back to winter time in October.
