FTC asks broadband providers to disclose how they collect user data

The FTC has ordered seven of the biggest US broadband providers to share information on how the companies collect, retain, use, and disclose information about consumers and their devices. The commission sent letters seeking information as part of a study, avoiding the use the term inquiry.

Hopefully it leads to good things. Maybe a bill of rights for the internet. Or at least the 1st amendment enforced online. Tech giants would have to stop being complete dicks.

It would be great if this order was enshrined in law, which would force all companies in the US to disclose exactly what data they collect on its users, and what it will be used for or risk fines.
