Gillibrand releases 2018 tax return, calls on 2020 candidates to do the same

Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand on Wednesday became the first presidential hopeful of the 2020 cycle to release her 2018 tax return. Gillibrand and her husband brought in roughly $218,000 last year, according to her tax return. She paid $29,170 in federal taxes. Gillibrand touted the release as a show of transparency and called on other 2018 presidential contenders to do the same.

Oh good job California make him release his tax returns to get on your ballot he sure needs those votes from California..... and he doesn’t have name recognition or anything..... and this totally won’t bite you in the ass soon..... and you’re totally not just demonstrating to the rest of us why we need the electoral college to prevent direct imperial rule from Soy Francisco.....

She makes more than I do, but played less in taxes. I thought deductions where just loopholes out of people paying their fair share?

so dumb. who cares? or rather, sure plenty of of people care but why? how about instead of public release which never does anything but give lame trivial news, just make sure every candidate gets audited. an audit will give far more information to the right people than a silly tax return.

Dems like to show how unsuccessful they are. "We are just like you, vote for us". I'd prefer my leaders to be better than me. If I wanted to follow a peer, id just follow myself.

Let's line up all their tax returns, and we'll vote for the one who paid the most taxes. That's how this works, right? Policies? Who cares about policies? Just show us your damn tax returns. That's the most important subject. Not healthcare, not the economy, not immigration... tax returns! That's what real Americans care about. 😐🖕

218,000 should put her in the 35% income tax bracket. That’s 76,300. Am I missing something? I wouldn’t imagine marriage can lower tax that much
