James Fields pleads guilty to hate crime charges in Charlottesville attack

James Fields, convicted of killing Heather Heyer by ramming his car into a crowd protesting a white supremacist rally in Virginia in 2017, pleaded guilty in his federal hate crimes case. Fields, 21, who previously pleaded not guilty, changed his plea during a hearing in US District Court in Charlottesville.

that guy needs a better lawyer... I mean, yes he ran over a bunch of people but he was most definitely gonna get assaulted. It sounds like each person he injuried was an account of "hate crime", common. He should be chrged for involuntary murder and let the insurance deal with all the rest. He is 21, it was I bet his father's car and it was a shitty situation all around.

So you freak out and run some people over because they are literally trying to break into your car and attack you. And that’s a hate crime?
