Cholera cases rise to more than 1,000 in Mozambique

Officials in Mozambique are racing to contain the outbreak of cholera in the cyclone-hit city of Beira and surrounding areas. Cases of the disease have reportedly jumped to more than 1,000. Workers have restored clean tap water to parts of Beira, although large areas of the urban center still do not have access to sanitary water. About 98,000 displaced people in the city are living in camps.
