Bernie Sanders puts focus on healthcare with Medicare for All bill

Sen. Bernie Sanders unveiled the latest version of his ambitious ’Medicare-for-All’ plan on Wednesday. The plan would largely eliminate private insurance and shift all Americans into a Medicare-based government-run healthcare plan. Republicans have criticized the bill as being too costly and potentially weakening for the US healthcare system.

So yet another government program I’m forced to pay into that I will likely never see any of?

Or, you can stop giving insurance companies and medical facilities more reason to raise their prices to a ridiculous level which is exactly what obama care did. Your fined if you don’t have health insurance so it’s either you pay a fuck load for inflated insurance prices, or you pay your fine. Sounds a lot like a scam to me.

My dad has medicare. Every 3 months, he pays 3 dollars for a 3-month supply of insulin. I wish everyone could have that. I'm certainly not a rich person. I would love to have affordable health insurance for myself. My worry is that expanding medicare to everyone (including me) will bankrupt the system, and people like my dad will lose out on the coverage they have now. Why do Democrats act like it's ridiculous when we ask how these things will be funded? It isn't a trick question. I truly want to know how this medicare-for-all will work. Additionally, I don't understand how can we have universal healthcare and all these generous social programs that the left proposes when the border remains so fucking porous, and anyone can just waltz in and take advantage of our taxpayers funded programs. How would illegal immigration factor into this medicare-for-all thing?

I understand where he's coming from but it attacks the symptoms, not the cause. More red tape NEVER makes something cheaper. Stop outlawing catastrophe care and you've solved the crisis.

So you'll go to the ER or A&E because you need to/believe you need to, maybe theres someone at the desk maybe not, it will be filled with people who feel sick or have the sniffles, you get assessed by a clock watching nurse, maybe a dr will see you within 4-5+ hours... if an ambo doesnt arrive or they hospital hasnt run out of beds and the departments you require are open. Finally you get in hooked up to machines by another clock watching nurse, hopefully they remember to ask you to remove jewelly before an xray - if the department is open, maybe seen by a dr depending what youre in for. Maybe they prescribe the wrong drugs that put your grandfather in a life threatening condition then have to wait for the end of the month for budget to fix it, oops too late sorry! Maybe they remember the placenta has to come out as well as the baby. My experience in multiple hospitals, in 2 countries that are seen as examples. Staff get paid no matter what happens, they end up not caring, you are merely a number to push through till end of shift.

Bernie is the only politician that sticks to his policy and doesn't give into corporate pressure. Bernie 2020.

the CBS article was incredibly biased towards the establishment, but bernie shut down the major arguments pretty well. the author should have mentioned the 40-45k that die every year due to lack of healthcare coverage along with the classic fearmongering argument about the jobs loss just like "but what about the arms industry" argument for supporting endless war
