I watched quite a bit of it. Props to him for being willing. Thanks for solidifying my disagreements with your policies.

at least you were willing to watch with an open mind. we may not all agree, but we shouldn't be ignorant either

People: So, we end up paing less money for healthcare? Bernie: Well, yes but actually no.
Jackie MOD 1 weeks
how do you figure? he was pretty clear that prices would go down, and that that reduction would more than offset anyone's tax increase

Jake Middleton 1 weeks
You mean the people that didn’t vote for you are going to pay more taxes, the people that want to raise them for everyone else don’t pay them.
Jackie MOD 1 weeks
how do you figure that Democrats dont pay taxes? with unemployment as low as it is, everyone is paying taxes

Hmm this sounds exactly like what Obama was saying when he was forcing Obamacare down our throats. But I’m sure this time it’s different and health insurance will totally become more affordable and the complete opposite won’t happen.
Darrell Vermilion 1 weeks
As someone who admittedly supported Obamacare initially, this is how I read it as well. Next I expect to hear about how I'll be able to keep my current plan/doctor.

His plan would cut health spending in the US from $60 trillion to $32 trillion over 10 years. This is a no brainer as the US spends more than any other industrialised country per capita in the world, yet we rank #38 among the healthiest nations. We are the only industrialised country to not provide government health insurance to all. If you want to push for socialism, we can have government run hospitals as seen in the UK, which is also healthier than us while spending less per capita.
mike 1 weeks
US health is ranked low because we're a bunch of overweight, drug addicted, adrenaline junkies... We have 4 out of the 10 best hospitals in the world (1st and 2nd and no other country has more than one), and the actual quality of our hospitals and doctors is second to none. US citizens spend more because we live stupidly and receive high quality treatment when reality sets in.

Medicare for all is a government insurance policy, it would not change our hospitals. If you want to look at a socialist approach to healthcare you can look at the UK. Our costs are so high partly yes due to diet and habit, but even more so due to people only being seen when in critical conditions instead of minor symptoms due to high co pays and deductibles. What sense does it make to profit off of workers seeking medical attention.

^Did you listen though?? Pay more in taxes , yes. But less overall because you are not paying for inflated wasteful insurance companies. Saving individuals money overall. Medicare For All costs 2 trillion LESS than the current system! & yes “Obamacare” was a failed 1/2 step that didn’t help the majority.
Connor Scott 1 weeks
there is nothing more inflated or wasteful than government programs. free market competition keeps costs low and quality high.

What a let down Bernie Sanders has become. The man is bought and paid for by multi national corperations!

Wealth redistribution for all.
Jackie MOD 1 weeks
capitalism is a system of redistributing wealth. like redistributing every penny I make to wealthy oligarchs
Avi Khait 1 weeks
Jackie, Bernie just made a million bucks from selling his book. Did he steal $1m from the poor? Is he an oligarchy now? Under socialism he would only receive his state salary. And maybe the Stalin award.

Andrew 1010 1 weeks
Uhhhh ain't that a bad thing?
Jackie MOD 1 weeks
as long as it's less than the cost of premiums and deductibles it's going to save you money. health insurance is expensive
Andrew 1010 1 weeks
At the cost of other people's money... It's gotta come from somewhere.
Jackie MOD 1 weeks
If you're paying a $150 right now for your health care premiums and then I implement a system that taxes you an additional $100 provides for you a similar quality of health care, how exactly have I made you worse off? Of course someone is going to pay for it but the fact is we're already paying for it and we're paying way too much for it because we have no system in place to collectively bargain for ourselves for better prices. Compared to other industrialized nations we pay twice as much for outcomes that arent even as good.

Why not just tax everyone 100% and the gov provide everything.
Jackie MOD 1 weeks
because that's a terrible idea?
