Mom of surfer who died from ’brain-eating amoeba’ files $1 million lawsuit

A woman whose son died from a ’brain-eating amoeba’ after visiting a Texas surf resort in September is suing the park for over $1 million. As per the lawsuit, Rita Stabile claims her son, Fabrizio Stabile, was at BSR Cable Park and Surf Resort’s surf pool when the amoeba got into his nose and went to his brain, causing death.

Thats really sad. But, as a medical scientist I can't help but mention that this sort of thing isn't preventable like most people might think, especially with N. Fowleri. There is no way for a park owner to know if it is even present in water and the incidence of this pathogen is very low. It is a real shame but these things happen.

I suppose Pelosi, Schumer and Mueller will say it's the fault of Trump.

This pathogen shouldn't have been in a swimming pool, the fact that it was indicates poor chlorine levels. This normally occurs in muddy shorelines of warm waters, and usually only if someone gets water into their sinuses. Other than not disturbing mud and wearing nose clips, there isn't much that can prevent this in natural bodies of water. While greater awareness and retroactive investigations have been increasing the number of documented incidences, the total ever is around 300 with mortality rates as high as 99%, as we do not have medications that can kill this quickly. The fact that this happened in a pool, indicates poorly chlorinated water, and the park is entirely liable for that.

You can’t sue an amoeba nor can you sue a park for not being able to stop a SINGLE SINGLE CELLULAR ORGANISM

Isn’t an amoeba the bit of skin around the nipple?

HEre is a pointer folks NEVER swim in a pool that has colored water. They died the water to cover up the cloudiness. Plus if there was a nice big wall souther invaders would not have been shitting in the pool.
