Egyptians to vote on expanding Presidential term limits

On Tuesday, Egyptian parliament voted 531 to 22 in favor of extending their President’s term limit, potentially allowing him to serve as President until 2030 and to also expand the military’s role in politics. Wednesday they announced a referendum to confirm the changes through a public vote. Critics say this will consolidate power in President Sisi’s hands returning Egypt to authoritarian rule.
