Electric truck maker Rivian gets a $500 million investment from Ford

Rivian is working to get an all-electric pickup truck into production and Ford is going to invest $500 million to help, in turn being able to use it’s ’skateboard’ platform for a future electric vehicle. Joe Hinrichs, Ford’s president of automotive, will also join Rivian’s board. Ford said it will use Rivian’s skateboard chassis for a new electric vehicle, but did not offer any other details.

Healthy competition! We'll see how well they'll do against Elon. This is only going to help him get the pricing of electric cars down to his goals, which will be good for everyone.

Glad to hear Ford is ALL IN!

there's a reason why they stopped making everything except for the focus and one or other two other cars. the most interesting part will be what happens to all of the over-the-road drivers when we start automating transport.

Last time I checked trucks sucked gas like a Vietnam vet drinks beer, had manual transmissions and metal bodies that dented only when God himself ran into you. The only reason you should plug a truck in for is to heat the glow plugs or a dead battery.
