Amazon quarterly profits more than double to $3.6 bn

Amazon reported a first quarter profit of $3.6 billion, double the same period in the previous year. It was its fourth successive quarter of record profit. In the first quarter sales rose 17 per cent to $59.7 billion. Amazon expects sales to grow between 13 per cent and 20 per cent in the second quarter.
