IRS designates the Satanic Temple as a tax-exempt church

The Satanic Temple says it has been designated a church by the IRS. The Salem, Massachusetts-based organization, says it recently received communication of its new tax-exempt status. The letter used a code that classifies it as a ’church or a convention or association of churches’. The group says the designation will allow it to pursue faith-based government grants.
