More than 1,000 migrants break out of southern Mexico detention centre

At least 1,300 illegal migrants, mainly from Cuba, fled from an immigration detention center on Mexico’s southern border Thursday. The National Immigration Institute said 700 of the Cubans had returned voluntarily, but 600 were still on the loose. The escape is embarrassing for the government, given that the center’s holding capacity had been listed at less than 1,000 people.

Article 14 is clear, migrants of any legality have the right to seek asylum. You may opine that asylum from Mexico to America isn't applicable. But it's simply not the case. The more important argument would be around America's inability to process these asylum seekers within a reasonable amount of time.
