Afghan women face resistance in putting forth a strong voice in ongoing talks

Women in Afghanistan are already meeting resistance to having a strong voice in the ongoing talks aimed at peace. Activists are pressing for a third of participants in any negotiations to be women. President Ghani appointed only five women to a 37-member council created to shepherd negotiations.

Well duh, the US was never going to be permanently occupying Afghanistan and there was no way the Taliban were going to accept social engineering like what's been pushed on them. You can't alter a society at gunpoint.
