Sexual assaults spike in US military hit a new high, says Pentagon

The Pentagon said on Thursday the estimated number of sexual assaults in the military climbed nearly 38 per cent in 2018 compared with a survey two years earlier. There were 6,053 reports of sexual assaults last year, according to a bi-annual survey. It is the highest since the US military began collecting this kind of survey data in 2004.

Id like to know if the crack down may be the cause for the increase in reports, people feeling more comfortable with reporting their assaults so they speak out about it more rather than they are occurring more. As well as if the definitions for these things has changed, if the definitions have changed then it could increase the stats too.
