Main UK parties take Brexit battering in local elections

British PM May’s Conservatives and the opposition Labour Party were both punished by voters in a local election for the deadlock over Brexit, partial results showed on Friday. With more than 40 per cent of local council vote results declared, the Conservative Party had lost 359 councillors and the Labour Party had lost 74 councillors.

Strange how no news outlet points out that in many districts the choice was only Conservatives or Labour. Otherwise they would have been obliterated entirely.

Lib Dem leader Sir Vince Cable, in Chelmsford Essex, where his party took control of the council, said it had been a "brilliant" result and that "every vote for the Liberal Democrats is a vote for stopping Brexit".
