UN rights experts lambast Assange’s ’disproportionate’ prison sentence

A UN working group has called the 50-week jail sentence given to WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange for breaching a British court’s bail conditions seven years ago as ’disproportionate’. The UN working group noted that the Swedish allegations, the initial offence that triggered his British arrest, had been withdrawn and hence the original bail terms should be nullified.

What are people going to do if he is harmed in prison? I hope he still has his back up evidence.

This is the world we live in. The so called "justice" system used as a weapon of political malice. It's disgusting. Our servants have become our rulers.

I see no criminal. I see before me a political prisoner.

this is the same assange who was once convicted and gaoled for hacking into a data base and helping to steal the credit card details of 20,000+ people. so he does have a proven record of criminality that may well have contributed to his long sentence. he has admitted to taking a condom off during sex even though he was told to wear one and he was told to stop but didn't, which makes him guilty of rape so fuck him. I have limited sympathy for what happens to sex offenders. can't do the time then don't do the crime. hope he enjoys his new 400lb girlfriend bubba.😄😄😄
