Production for Apple’s M2 chip for Macs set to begin later this year

Since its launch last year, the M1 chip by Apple has been a revelation with it managing to bring a huge increase to the performance to the Macs of the company when compared to their predecessors from Intel. But, according to latest reports, the successor to the chip, the M2, is set to go into production and be used in Macs during the second half of the year.

It's so hard to tell if this is Apple surging forward or just Intel standing still as everyone else goes forward without them. AMD and ARM are both creating awesome stuff whilst Intel just doesn't seem to move at all. Apple is doing the sensible thing, using the ARM IP and their experience in making some fast tablets to get away from Intel, which seems stuck in a quagmire. I would not suggest anyone ever buy an Apple product unless they need them for work or have some other niche use case. But there is no question these ARM based chips have some real potential and Apple's ability to control the ecosystem means they stand a great chance at making it work.
