China April exports unexpectedly fall but imports rebound

China’s exports unexpectedly shrank in April but imports surprised with their first increase in five months. Exports fell 2.7 per cent from a year earlier, customs data showed on Wednesday. Imports, however, beat expectations with a 4.0 per cent rise year-on-year, much better than analysts’ forecasts for a 3.6 per cent fall.
