Uber drivers set to protest around the world ahead of the company’s IPO

Uber and Lyft drivers are logging off ride-hailing apps and taking to the streets in cities around the world Wednesday to protest against working conditions and wages. The protests come ahead of Uber’s IPO (initial on Friday. Drivers are expected to stage protests against Uber and Lyft in at least eight cities around the US, including New York, Chicago and San Francisco.

I’m confused, they don’t have to work for the company if they don’t want to, right? And if they do they make up their own hours right? I thought Uber was like a part time thing for most?

I had a laugh hearing about this. Those going on strike are only screwing themselves while the remaining drivers will rake in the higher rates. I just can't believe so many people are this ignorant.
