Florida governor signs bill to arm more teachers

More Florida teachers will be eligible to carry guns in the classroom under a bill Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis signed Wednesday. The bill expands the ’guardian’ program that allows school districts to approve school employees and teachers with a role outside the classroom, such as a coach, to carry guns.

Good. In Christchurch, the shooter hadtime to kill more than 50 people over three locations. He had time to fix malfunctions in his guns, reload, and go to other locations. Everyone was disarmed. Brave people tried to defend themselves with creditcard readers and other random objects. They were disarmed. At the Poway Synagogue, the shooter only had time to kill 1 person before an armed Synagogue attendee was able to run him off preventing the body count that the shooter wanted. These types of shootings last until armed opposition shows up.

When you want to exploit a tragedy to get rid of gun rights but instead they arm the teachers. *Surprised pikachu

The teachers are required to go through 144 hrs of police-like training with a sheriff’s office and undergo a psychiatric evaluation and a background check. That is some serious devoted training. Do the teachers complete this training during summer break?

Moronic. What could possibly go wrong? This is exactly the opposite of what the students protested for. I know I wouldn't feel safer knowing there was a gun in my classroom.

How does this STOP school shootings? This sounds like it will create a situation where a teachers has to 1. act like a police officer and 2. be put in a situation where they will have to shoot a troubled kid. I know most teachers didnt sign up to be part time cops. The solution is clear that there should be common sense gun regulation not this crazy shit.

Stop exploiting the children by marketing violence to them ( video games etc...) and instead get them involved in their community’s. That would at the very least cut down on this crazy shit.

As a High School student, I'm not sure how I feel about this. One the one hand, it might help end school shootings, but at the same time, you're giving weapons to teachers who can go nuts due to the shit they put up with.

More posts here claiming guns don't kill people, gun control laws don't reduce gun crime, only crazy people kill people, yet never offering a solution to these senseless massacres. There is only one solution: Reduce the number of guns and reduce access to those guns.
