Kamala Harris sees Facebook as a ’utility’ that might need breaking up

Kamala Harris said on Sunday that US officials should consider breaking up Facebook, saying it is a utility that has gone unregulated. Harris said Facebook has prioritized growth over consumers’ interests, especially on privacy. Her comments come after Facebook co-founder Chris Hughes called last week for the social network to be split into three parts.

It most certainly is and they need to pick whether or not they are a free speech platform or a publisher If they tell you what can and can not be said on Facebook then it's not a free speech platform they are a publisher and are open to law suits for anything and everything said on their platform

Facebook is not a utility, so sick and tired of this woman always trying to maximize government control on anything that can make the state money.

And this is why she can't win the presidency. That woman will try to nationalize most of the US economy on a whim.

Break it up? WTF does that mean? Nanny government syndrome. Regulate what you don't like until it dies.

Ironically, making Facebook a public utility would only hasten its decline. So much fretting over the next Myspace shows how out of touch the political class is.

This is obviously a play for the moderates that she would desperately need to stay relevant in the upcoming primaries. If she was elected, it wouldn't happen. Facebook would just need to make a donation to her campaign and she'd change her tune faster than a greased up mouse in a cat convention.
