Amazon reportedly uses boxing machines to replace people

Amazon is rolling out machines to automate a job held by thousands of its workers - boxing up customer orders. The company started adding technology to a handful of warehouses in recent years, which scans goods coming down a conveyor belt and envelops them seconds later in custom-built boxes. Amazon has considered installing two machines at 55 more warehouses.

Robots to make the products. Robots to pack the products. Robots to deliver the products. Just need robots to consume the products to complete the cycle!

I just don’t understand the idea that people should work for an amount they can’t survive on; and somehow that would prevent the automation?? You people do realize that automation is cheaper than any human labour and it’s not just phasing out minimum wage jobs, right? You also realize that Amazon’s algorithms are written by machines themselves and not by human hand so the “learn to code” shit makes zero sense?!?

So Amazon replace warehouse staff with machines and pay staff to start delivery services. What happens when self driving technology and drones take over delivery? The machines are coming like it or not. I lost my last job due to automation. The question is, what happens to the millions left unemployed in the next few decades when there are fewer and fewer jobs remaining?

Do you know what needs probably more automation? Bureaucracy.

The argument between asking for higher wages and automation is flawed. Technology is advancing faster than politics. We need Universal Basic Income through taxing automation.

If you want to make more money, increase you value by adding additional skills. If you work a good that requires little skill, then you get little pay. If you complain, then automation comes in.
